Helen Phillips’s House – Holiday Party

President –Terri Desnica called meeting to order at 12:40 PM
Minutes were read with the following change – Rent a ring date should be January 2 not January 3.  Barb Arkin moved to accept and seconded by Lee Palmer.

Treasurer’s Report – It was decided that Elyse should talk to Vickie about preparing a report on the 2009 treasury.

There is a notice from AKC about clubs filing tax forms. Each club should check their individual states on filing needs.  The IRS 2006 act, which was implemented in 2008.  Clubs with gross receipts less than $25,000 have special forms to fill out.  

AKC requested each member club to have a legislative liaison.  This person would check on state dog legislation and keep track on what is happening.  Since most breed clubs do have this focus, we agreed to monitor this through other venues and have individual members keep each other informed.  

Amy call will call Bob about donation. Service dogs Colorado Dog Federation will look into it.

New Business
Efforts were made to encourage all club members to volunteer to help with activities. It was moved by Amy Galperin and seconded by Barb Arkin to require members to take part in two events per year in order to be able to renewal their membership. If the member has moved out of state or becomes unable to volunteer due to extenuating circumstances, an exception to this rule may be made. Motion passed with six opposed and one abstention.

Lifetime Members
Helen proposed Robert Miller and Elyse Hansberry as a lifetime members.  It was moved by Amy Galperin and seconded by Helen Phillips that anyone who is a member for 40 yrs should automatically be a life member.  Motion approved unanimously.   

Old Business
February 6 match – Kathy Janda and Lyss Seymour are obtaining stewards.   Susanne Bohan is organizing packing of match equipment.  Lyss Seymour has baby gates. Workers will get one free run and judges get all their runs free.Amy will send out an E-mail about set up for match and to call Kathy about stewards.

Rent a ring filled in two days – email about running order will be sent out for folks.

Mixed breed dogs will be allowed at this year’s obedience trial but not for the agility trial. The running order for obedience will be in height order. Advance Handling will be offered both days. Veterans – Novice one day – Veterans Open the next day.  We want to have special gifts for Veterans
