Dog Training Book and Video REviews
Dog Training Videos
Lots of great videos on both agility and obedience
Highly recommended are Susan Garrett's videos, especially 2x2 weaves and Crate Games. You can buy these directly from Say Yes Dog Training. Susan's2x2 weave pole method is excellent and the video is exceedingly clear and easy to follow.
In obedience, Sylvia Bishop is a favorite of many of us. Some of her videos are a little dated, but I still find a lot to learn in the Heelwork series. Newer CDs are Magic to Move You and Living with my Dogs. In the former, Sylvia does incredible training all within her small home. She shows how you can do little essential movements in a very restricted area. She uses her hallway and stairs to work on retrieves. In Living with my Dogs, she is in a small garden area with five dogs milling about her. She isn't teaching specific exercises; it's more like doodling. But what she gets the dogs to do is amazing.
Looky Looky is her latest video. In it she shows how she trains a puppy from 11 weeks to six months. The puppy isn't that motivated or easy for her to work with. However, Sylvia brings out the best in her and she develops into a fantastic obedience dog. Most of the work she does sitting on a chair in her living room. She is supposed to follow this CD up with the next six months but it's not yet available.
